Digital Transformation and Talent: Madrid debates the issues

FT | IE Corporate Learning Alliance held the first of its Insight Series of thought-leadership events in Madrid on April 5 2016. First established in London in 2015, the events are based on panel discussions of key issues and topics affecting the world of business management, executive education and corporate learning.

Entitled Digital Transformation and Talent, the Madrid event sought to answer two main questions:

  • Are new skills required in an era of digital transformation?
  • How can people be helped to adapt?

A group of 50 heads of learning & development attended the event held at IE Business School in Madrid. FT | IE Corporate Learning Alliance CEO, VanDyck Silveira, moderated the panel consisting of two IE faculty members – Ricardo Perez, Professor of IT and Innovation, and Ignacio Alvarez de Mon, Professor of Organisational Behaviour – together with the Global Head of Talent at Telefónica, Marta de las Casas.

Among the issues discussed by the panel and the audience were:

  • Defining the digital profile of today’s professionals
  • Introducing incentives to promote digital change in organisations
  • Starting digital transformation: top-down or bottom-up
  • Using training and development in an effective way
  • Measuring the achievements of digital transformation
